WHY GO? Le Dalat is the classic destination for
Vietnamese food in Bangkok. It is located in a lovely
house on Sukhumvit Soi 23 that is evocative of Vietnam’s
colonial past. The food is served by an attentive and
knowledgeable staff dressed to enhance the setting.
WHAT TO ORDER?
Le Dalat has a well-deserved
reputation for serving classic Vietnamese specialities
and there is a wide variety of mouth-watering
temptations from which to choose. Recommended
starters are goi cuon, fresh spring rolls with pork and
sausage, and its signature appetiser goi num, a panache
of seasonal wild mushrooms tossed in sesame oil, lime
and chilli dressing. These two dishes go very well with
a light sauvignon blanc. Two main dishes stand out, ga
sa ot, chicken with lemongrass and chillies and bo la
bop which is a very tasty beef dish served with betel
nut leaf.
A good selection from vineyards around the world.
Signature dishes:
- Goi cuon – fresh spring rolls with pork and shrimp
- Suong nuong sa ot – charcoalgrilled lemongrass spare ribs
- Ga sa ot – chicken with lemongrass and chillies
- Bo la lop – beef with betul nut leaf
