WHY GO? Situated beside the Ping River, Comedara is
a great spot to relax on the terrace under the canopy
of the garden’s many trees. Colonial architecture fuses
with Lanna traditional dishes, embracing the past with
Chiang Mai’s constantly evolving present.
WHAT TO ORDER?
It’s best to go Thai-style and share
a number of dishes. Mixed northern finger snacks,
consisting of three kinds of traditionally made sausage,
tangy pork ribs, lime, garlic, chillis and nuts, is the
consummate introduction to the region’s food. A fish
dish and a curry are essential eating for diners wanting
the northern culinary experience; try sweet green
curry with dipping pancakes and boiled tub tim fish in a
lemon sauce. A richer palate might appreciate duck with
shiitake mushrooms and kale covered in a sweet red
sauce. Another option would be giant grilled shrimps
with sweet fish sauce. The dessert menu has a large
selection of local treats. Choose from various flavours
of ice cream, or for a wintry night try hot coconut milk
with ruby red pomegranate truffles.
A modest wine list of New and Old World wines that certainly won’t break the
bank.
