WHY GO? An easy walk from BTS Thonglor, Bacco is the quintessential Italian family eatery that is bustling and full most nights, but manages never to disappoint with its cuisine or the efficient and prompt service.

WHAT TO ORDER? The menu features a range of generously-portioned standard Italian fare as well as more upscale versions of the cuisine. For instance, lobster fettuccine with white wine sauce is an extravagant indulgence but well worth it, with a whole lobster served with a simple but satisfying white wine sauce. Be warned: the large portion means it may be better shared. Carpaccio di pesca spada, thinly sliced swordfish with nutty and salty olives, capers and citronette dressing, never overpowers with either fish or lemon; each ingredient holds its own. Bacco consistently gives good value, with dishes such as ravioli di tartufo rucola e porcini an aromatic pleasure, rich and earthy, dotted with small chunks of truffle and plated with a slice of the mushroom.

The extensive wine list is newbie-friendly, with over 200 bottles on menu and recommended wines in a range of prices. Sicilian and Italian wines are, of course, the focus.
