The Queen & Mangosteen

The Queen & Mangosteen at Vivocity is essentially a modern interpretation of the quintessential British gourmet pub but with a whimsical flourish.

The menu here marries modern renditions of traditional British bar grub with Asian touches, and the result is hearty mains and desserts. The classic dish of shrimp cocktail is presented in an old style beer mug as a pint of chilled tiger prawns with Marie Rose dip, while crisp thick-cut chips are paired with a zesty lemongrass and chilli aioli.

The old favourite fish and chips features golden-brown sea bass fillets accompanied with an appetising curry tartar sauce, and the mini hamburgers and chips makes for a hearty snack or meal in one. Other tempting morsels include spicy minced beef, Thai basil and bird's eye chilli served with warmed corn chips and sour cream as well as shredded slow-braised duck with crusty bread. In fact, these appetisers come in generous portions and they could serve as a main course on their own. For those with bigger appetites, the real main courses include premium Scottish breaded scampi, chips and peas, a British pub staple unique to The Queen & Mangosteen, Bangers and mash served with caramelised onion gravy and blue mussels cooked in chilli served with freshly-baked rolls.

Don't forget to try the iconic British cocktail, Pimm's & Lemonade that is 25 per cent alcohol by volume gin-based alcohol, with lemonade as well as strawberry and cucumber cubes for a refreshing textural contrast.
