Swiss Grill @ Coronation

Meat lovers have more reasons to celebrate because unbeknown to some of them is this quaint little eatery called Swiss Grill@Coronation located at #01-05 Coronation Shopping Plaza, 587 Bukit Timah Road. Opened in September 2009 in this quiet neighbourhood of Bukit Timah, this bistro has been serving up hearty meals consisting of quality chilled meats such as sausages, burgers, steaks and chops. The bistro's notable proposition is that it also accommodates a Swiss Butchery Shop where gourmands can find cheeses, salads, air-dried meats, salamis, ham, sauces and other tasty nibbles to get you drooling. Helming the kitchen is chef Colin West, who has clocked eight years of experience behind the stove. He is an expert at home-cooked fare where each dish is prepared with sincerity and thought. Rather than wowing diners with cooking techniques, chef West uses fresh, quality ingredients that truly make his dishes stand out. Everything from sauces to mash is handmade every day by chef West. Swiss Grill is also adamant about not using frozen meats, too. Regulars can attest to the fresh, chilled meats that that taste wholesome to the last bite. Don't forget to try the fries which are done to a golden crisp. No discerning meat lover should every walk out of the bistro without trying the thick, juicy burger patties made from pure premium chuck beef. The bistros steaks are corpulent, unctuous and tender and that's because the company insists on using only Angus 200-days grain-fed beef. If your hunger is insatiable, then you should head straight for the Burger with the Lot where each bite is toe-curling tasty thanks to its home-cured bacon, sunny side up egg, cheddar cheese and gherkins. Swiss Grill's patties are made from premium chuck beef, like the Swiss Portobello Burger which has Swiss Emmental Cheese and Portobello mushrooms. Don't like beef? Then, fret not. The Crispy Chicken Burger's juiciness and tenderness - a whole chicken thigh marinated with spices - will leave you grinning like a Cheshire cat. Diners can down the hot meal with an ice-cold mug of beer from brands such as Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Dunkel and Paulaner. If main meals are not your cup of tea, you can opt for an Assorted Mini Sausages Platter that's great for sharing with friends over a few bottles of beer. Wines are also available from the shop where you can enjoy them with your meal at just $5 corkage, or corkage at $15 if you bring your own wines. No GST and service charge is charged here. And don't forget to try the unique five home-made sausages: Spicy Italian, Pork and Cheese, Pork Bratwurst, Cervelat (a special Swiss-style sausage made from veal and pork) and Snail Sausage. Fish lovers will make a beeline for the Grilled Codfish Burger where the buttery marinated cod comes with herbed mayo and marinated cherry tomatoes and lettuce. Swiss Grill @ Coronation, #01-05 Coronation Shopping Plaza, 587 Bukit Timah Road, Tel: 6463 8080 Opening hours: 11.30am - 10pm (Tuesday - Sunday).
