Swiss Grill is a cosy little bistro serving up great quality chilled meats from the adjoining Swiss Butchery shop. Helming the kitchen is Chef Colin West, who has clocked eight years of experience behind the stove. He is an expert at honest-to-goodness fare, preferring to let the fresh, quality ingredients take centrestage rather than wowing with fancy techniques. Everything, from sauces to mash, is handmade every single day by Chef Colin West and the meats here are never frozen. Even the fries are fried to a golden crisp a la minute – no limp salads here either. The thick, juicy burger patties are made purely from premium chuck beef, and only Angus 200-days Grain-Fed Beef is used for the steaks. The lengthy period of grain-feeding ensures that your steak has more marbling, and so is more flavourful and tender. The alfresco seating means you can shoot the breeze with an ice-cold mug of beer while watching the world go by. Erdinger Weissbier, Erdinger Dunkel and Paulaner beers are available here. Pairs nicely with the Assorted Mini Sausages Platter ($17.90) especially if you’re sharing. A selection of wines by the bottle are also available – just pick them up from the shop and enjoy them with your meal at just $5 corkage! Corkage is $15 if you bring your own wines. Interestingly, no GST and service charge is charged here. Best of all, you can pick up your meat items and accompaniments and have them prepared while you eat. A fab time-saver.
