The circular-shaped restaurant is inspired by a traditional izakaya (Japanese-style pub) where diners sit on a wood floor. Adding to the ambience are timber panels inlaid with illuminated cherry blossoms. Japanese charcoal-grilled items are the speciality at this two-storey 70-seater restaurant, and just walking in will whet your appetite. The babe gyu (premium Black Angus rib eye), which is served on a skewer, is delightfully tender and rich with the natural flavour of high quality beef. Also served on a skewer is that Japanese classic, unagi, or eel. Still on seafood, the hamachi (yellow tail fish) salad is refreshing. Among the other popular items is sanma ume maki (mackerel rolled with plum). The contrasting tastes of the two ingredients blend surprisingly well. Another example of how two different ingredients work together is the mentaiko doufu (soyabean curd topped with spicy cod roe), where silken tofu meets bursts of spicy roe.
