While the restaurant itself may be draped in neo-classical French-inspired décor, Paradise Pavillion offers a wide range of traditional dim sum alongside innovative new creations.
Items like the siew mai skewer, dragon beard flaky rolls with eggplant and pan-fried bun slice Peking duck, bacon and pineapple are interesting twists on classic dishes, but the one not to miss is the cheong fun stuffed with deep-fried vegetable spring roll. The extra crunch from the spring roll filled with the vegetables makes this a substantial cheong fun.
The restaurant is known for its signature Peking duck, and you can eat the skin and meat on its own, or try several of the inspired dim sum creations, like pan-fried buns with sliced Peking duck, bacon and pineapple, crystal dumplings with Peking duck or the sesame pastry pouches served with sautéed Peking duck. Succulent and expertly marinated, each Peking duck is roasted in a specially built brick oven using the most traditional method of construction and materials imported from Beijing.
For dessert, the crispy custard lava man tou with vanilla ice cream is the dim sum version of a molten chocolate lava cake. The custard is creamy and full-flavoured, so the dollop of ice cream works perfectly with it.
Paradise Pavillion is at #02-01 Marina Bay Financial Centre, Ground Plaza, 8A Marina Boulevard, 6509 9308.
