Oosh at Dempsey which use to serve Japanese fare now does modern European. Not only does the restaurant boast a new indoor and outdoor seating, its new chef from Indonesia Chef Zulkarnainai Dahlan has prepared a new menu using his experience with French cuisine and interest in fusion food to complement the chic vibe. While traditional favourites like the French Onion soup lacked oomph and the signature robust tastes of onions, the smoked salmon salads sprinkled with pine nuts and honey lemon vinaigrette is light and refreshing. Some would have liked the grilled Australian tenderloin to be smothered with gravy, but it’s probably the chef’s way to encouraging diners to appreciate the succulence of the meat. Desserts such as the granny smith apple panacotta shine for its delicate treatment, and the crème brulee is exquisite for its use of ginger that gives the well-loved dessert a kick that is worthy of a sweet ending to a meal.
