Perched on top of Orchard Central mall is Kuriya Penthouse with its tranquil rooftop garden and outdoor terrace bar. It's one of the few places along the Orchard belt where you can sit amid greenery and soak in great city views.
Masterchef Koezuka who is well-known for his omakase style menu uses fresh seasonal ingredients direct from Japan. He also incorporates Iberico pork, chorizo and foie gras into some of his more creative items.
One of the new a la carte dishes launched recently is the Hida Wagyu Gan-en Plate Yaki. This premium well-marbled Hida beef from Japan's Gifu Prefecture is cooked on a plate made of natural Himalayan rock salt, resulting in delicate, melt-in-the-mouth meat.
Chef Omakase courses which start from $150 are ideal for dinner when you have more time to linger over your meal while anticipating specially created, seasonal items from the chef. Should you visit in the day, there is a host of set lunches to select from A recommended one is the popular una don set. Besides the large bowl of rice topped with sticky, succulent eel, the set comes with appetiser, dessert and coffee.
For something more luxurious, request for the premium kaisen or seafood lunch set. Try the premium chirashi don set at $68 - pristine quality sashimi glistening on rice. The set also includes a cold starter, tempura, chawanmushi, salad, rice, miso soup, pickles, dessert, coffee or tea.
In the evenings, you can sip pre-dinner sake based cocktails prepared by the restaurant's female bartender Ichikawa Miyoko. Some of her original concoctions include unique ingredients such as pomegranate, aloe vera and collagen powder. Highly well-trained staff serve guests with flair, so you are assured of a memorable experience.
