Health matters but so do your tastebuds. At Heart Bistro, you’ll get
to dine on wholesome, delicious meals without feeling much guilt. Owner
William Tan is happy to recommend his favourites – essentially dishes
that are “good for you”. Modern Asian items are well thought-out and
nicely executed – prepared using healthy cooking techniques. You won’t
see any oily batters or deep-fried items. Fresh ingredients are used,
enhanced by aromatic herbs, spices and natural citrus juices. Diners are
assured that flavours are not compromised here. Even the portions are
generous but not overwhelming.
Seafood such as Hawaiian inspired
salmon sashimi poke or breaded crab shrimp cakes are great for sharing.
So is the thick piece of silky smooth braised cod accompanied by wild
mushrooms, aged balsamic and crowned with apple grape coulis. When the
fortifying steamed chicken in Chinese wine arrives at the table, it is
bathed with a jar of potent essence of chicken. The dish comes with
shiitake mushrooms and white fungus, dotted with sweet wolfberries -
perfect when accompanied with wild rice. Meat lovers will not have to
worry about the absence of red meat in the menu. The twice-cooked short
rib of beef in a Merlot reduction is fork-tender and ultra satisfying.
And who can resist a sticky date pudding? Considered a signature dessert
here, it is irresistible to the last spoonful. If you want something
lighter, aim for the chilled soya beancurd with honey, nuts and fruit. A
good range of ‘feel-good’, ‘pick-me-up’ juices made of fruits and
vegetables are available as well.
Heart Bistro offers all-day
dining from breakfast to lunch, high tea, tapas and dinner. If you are
looking for a hearty weekend brunch, be there on weekends from 10am to
4.30pm. You can pick either two courses at $30 or three courses at $32 –
inclusive of coffee and tea. Opt for the delicious banana pancakes with
maple syrup and cinnamon; Nutella waffles with mixed berries compote
and vanilla ice cream; Valrhona French toast with strawberries and
balsamic, or smoked salmon benedict on carrot toast. Tempted yet? Palais
