Beyond delish cocktails, sexy sunset parties and bar nibbles, Café del Mar serves up a full menu of Italian and Western favourites, with a scenic beach view, to boot.
Try appetisers like the tri-colour salad of tomatoes (S$12) served with thick slices of mozzarella cheese and avocado, a light and refreshing start to your meal. You really don't want to pig out in your itsy bitsy bikini, but it will be hard to say no to yummy mains that come in real generous portions, such as creamy squid ink risotto cooked in Frascati white wine (S$26). Topped with juicy prawns and scallops, and garnished with fresh basil, it is a real hearty meal.
Another winner is the grain-fed beef fillet (S$30), which is broiled to a succulent finish. Ask for it to be done medium-rare so you can slowly savour the silky and creamy texture of the beef.
For a sweet ending by the beach, order the crème brulee topped with crunchy cornflakes (S$10) and the very delectable pistachio cheesecake (S$12). Time it right and the sun will be setting over the horizon just as you polish off the last crumb. Toast more cocktails (from S$12) and soak up the cool beats of Cafel Del Mar music, and get all set for a night of revelry under the stars. - James Leong
