While business is fairly brisk, the Italian fare here is best described as ordinary. The signature wood fired thin-crust pizza with salami, ham and bufffalo mozzeralla was thin on the cheese but otherwise adequate. The appetiser of Angus beef carpaccio was uncomfortably plain – without dressing or the usual shavings of parmesan to provide tang or punch. Although billed as a speciality dish, the linguine with lobster in a rich tomato sauce accented with capers and black olives was too robust and acidic considering the delicate flavour of lobster meat. The braised veal shank with pumpkin risotto was good with a thick slice of tasty melt-in-your-mouth meat and bone barrow over a small bed of tender grains cooked in a smooth and creamy pumpkin sauce. For dessert, the apple crostata, a flaky free-form tart topped with caramelised green apples and saturated with a sweet buttery sauce was a satisfying end to an otherwise run-of-the-mill dinner. Waitstaff could be more enthusiastic, to avoid the air of neglect over the meal.
