Setting
Clean lines and a light touch dominate the design of both the spacious front dining area that abuts onto Harbour City shopping mall as well as the narrow rear section that is more rambling and split into two levels. Art deco flourishes and tasteful artefacts, some Vietnamese, punctuate close-set solid wooden tables and a variety of different styles of comfortable seating. Several booths afford good sea views but most diners seem happy soaking up the bustling atmosphere and focusing on the food. Designer partitions, bright lighting and strategically placed mirrors add to the determinedly modern feel.

Food
Modern Vietnamese cuisine is given a gentle twist to provide a dynamic menu containing authentic ingredients and combinations designed to suit local tastes. This works best in dishes where spices are toned down and cream is used to add texture and flavor such as the piquant range of curries. Typical is the seafood yellow curry. The sauce never threatens to overwhelm the oceanic fresh flavours of prawn, mussels and scallop. When traditional preparations are left intact, such as Vietnamese spring rolls packed with tasty minced pork, vermicelli and dried shrimp, the results are satisfying. The lighter paper rolls are good examples having perfect texture and, when additions such as smoked duck are added, they make for a successful starter. In the same vein a simple, succulent baked prawn served on a piece of sugar cane titillates the taste buds. Main courses include a substantial bowl of noodles layered with tender Vietnamese beef and a bowl of fine-quality fish fillets in a spicy batter the menu claims is sizzling, but which, in fact is merely very hot. Desserts are worth considering and the banana toffee pudding in particular rounds off the meal with a sweet flourish.

Wine
Though the list is not extensive, there is nevertheless a reasonable range of good-quality well-known bottles and all represent outstanding value for money. Some of these varietals are considerably more expensive in other establishments. A few of these are also available by the glass.

Service
In this busy restaurant service is average overall but subject to some inconsistency. When staff members are on hand, they are attentive and helpful but diners may need to catch their attention at times.
Price
Food is sensibly priced and two people should be able to sample a wide range of dishes for about HK$500.
