Peccato’s is located on Elgin Street in Hong Kong’s bustling Soho area. Warmly lit with a cosy patio outside, this small restaurant has a pleasant and inviting atmosphere. Traditional tiles, prints and nostalgic images of Italy all add to the genuine feeling of an authentic Italian trattoria. Closely knit tables add to the ambiance as diners relax and chat in a cosy eatery that straight away relaxes its guests.

Peccato’s is a place for traditional Italian food and one expects to see favourites on the menu, for which Peccato’s does not disappoint. The familiar burrata salad was taken as a shared starter and whilst wonderfully refreshing it was not as oozing and scrumptious as expected. The gnocchi with gorgonzola however, is a divine dish that melts in the mouth, satisfying all the senses with its creamy heavenly texture. The carbonara chittara, whilst a little dry, left hints of aroma in the mouth and the spaghetti dough is a testament to its creator. A shared pan-fried veal chop is cooked to perfection, with tender aromatic meat that lingers lovingly on the taste buds. Desserts again are the expected names and whilst the tiramisu is disappointingly served on dry unsoaked sponge fingers, the Sicilian cannoli are creamy and delicious. While not always impeccable in execution, in spirit, Peccato\'s honours its commitment to genuine home-style Italian cooking wonderfully.

A limited but well chosen range of reasonably priced Italian wines. Choose from Puglia, Veneto or Toscana to accompany your selected meal.

Excellent service with waiters knowledgeable of the food being served. Wines are poured promptly and dishes presented properly and on time, requests for butter and water all met with a smile and courteous manner.

A meal for two without wine will cost about HK$1,300 with wine. It may seem a touch expensive, but not when you take into account that most dishes can be shared and the restaurant is happy to oblige with sharing plates. Set lunch menus are an economic way to enjoy some fine traditional food.
