Sleek and modern, Opus Grill in LKF Tower sets a dimly lit atmosphere with candles on each dining table. The dark sophisticated tone together with black glossy paneled walls and dark crystals add to a contemporary ambience. The restaurant also includes a bar as you enter and a spacious dining area, an exquisite location if one is looking for a quiet yet elegant dining spot and a perfect place for a drink or two before the night begins.
Food
If you’re a steak lover, Opus Grill is calling out for you as the new stylish steak joint in town. Opus Grill is the only restaurant in Hong Kong that sources their beef from a small family farm in southeast California – Bryan Flannery, where cattle are raised without hormones or antibiotics and are aged for 35-40 days, an optimum aging period for NY strip and ribeye steaks. One of their highly recommended steaks includes a 12oz New York strip (HK$680), when done to a perfect medium rare, the red meaty juice bursts in your mouth with every bite. They also serve wagyu beef sourced from David Blackmore in Australia, where cattle are fed a secret ration of natural ingredients for 500 to 600 days, an authentic traditional Japanese feeding regime. Do try their wagyu 10oz striploin (HK$790), although the steak is thin, it is tender, flavorful and delicious. To accompany the steak, a highly recommended side is their crispy creamed spinach prepared like little fire balls. Their starters should not be missed and a few must-order starters include their steamed Dungeness crabcakes (HK$170) with old bay spiced avocado, their melt in the mouth hand-cut beef tartar (HK$165) and fresh cornflake-crusted Hokkaido scallops (HK$130). Their hot molten chocolate cake for two with vanilla ice cream makes a perfect finish to the meal.
Wine
The strong wine list is very impressive and reads like a dictionary with 650 different labels and prices starting from approximately HK$500. Their collection consists of rare vintages of wine from Australia, a variety of great Burgundy and champagne; you name it, the chances are they have it. Ask the servers to recommend a good glass of wine to complement the steak, wine tastings are available until satisfied.
Service
The staff and service are, without exception, wonderful and professional. The staff members were familiar with the menu and suggested great wine recommendations. They were also very efficient and attentive.
Price
Dinner for two will tally around HK$900 per person and up, excluding wine. With such personalised service, the price tag is well worth the splurge.
