Panoramic windows frame a wonderful view of the Coloane coastline fills Kwun Hoi Heen, the Cantonese restaurant at the Westin with light; reflections from the South China Sea complete an almost romantic feel if seated on the terrace for dinner. Widely spaced tables with comfortable and discerning use of fabric and colour create a relaxing ambience where one will wish to linger.

Kwun Hoi Heen serves dim sum and then some; creativity from the kitchen is evident with dishes such as tri-colour prawn dumplings, which are beautifully presented and tantalisingly tasty. Congee brimming with scallops and fresh crab grabs your senses with aromatic ginger that hovers in the air while Kurobuta pork puffs are delicately wrapped in the flakiest pastry making each mouthful a sinful indulgence. An old-fashioned dim sum of flour dough conpoy with dried shrimp is perfectly cooked and served with an aromatic soy sauce to give a contemporary flavour to an old classic. Chinese cuisine here is really very good, making this one of the rare Macau restaurants that is a food destination in its own right.

A wide selection of wines is available courtesy of the hotel and other dining venues; a good selection of Chinese teas also available. The wine service could be improved if the staff were more confident with recommendations for wine pairings.

Attentive service is reflected in the training of the Westin staff; a warm and courteous greeting and recognition of your booking augur well as waiting staff seat you promptly. Tea is poured without having to be asked and explanations of the items on the menu are knowledgably given. Dishes are presented elegantly and assistance with serving is always on hand.

A meal for two without wine will cost around MOP750, with wine just over MOP1,000. Kwun Hoi Heen offers excellent food served with pride; take a break from the tables and pay a visit.
