A rustic bar invites diners to this classy steak house in Sands Macao Hotel. Wood accented interiors, dim lighting and a glowing fireplace makes for a relaxing and romantic dining experience. The open kitchen is located in the heart of the restaurant where guests can watch their meal being prepared. The corner seats behind the fireplace are quieter and filled with country charm and more suitable for an intimate date. The steak house is open only for dinner.
Food
The precise menu offers American steak house favourites and premium meats flown in from US and Japan. Copa Five (MOP 269) consists of five innovative flavour combinations including Cajun-grilled prawn, pan-fried foie gras and tempura soft shell crab artfully presented on a long rectangular plate. This appetiser platter is a good place to start and can be share among two. For mains, the Australian M7 T-Bone wagyu steak (MOP 528) arrives with a smoky crust and the server will bring along an array of special-blended mustards and special salts to your table, so you can hand-pick extra flavours for your steak. The steak itself is disappointing: over-cooked with little marbling, the end result is an undesirably dry and chewy texture. The eight-ounce grilled Norway salmon is a good alternative for non-carnivore. The fish is beautifully cooked to pink-orange inside and melts in the mouth and is served with a delicious house-made garlic butter sauce. Dessert lovers can end the meal with more than ten luscious options to choose from, and Copa’s souffle (MOP88) is not to be missed. This house signature delight is divine - towering, light and fluffy, with rich chocolate sauce and sabayon dip served on the side.
Wine
The precise wine list offer decent varieties of wines at a fair price, and are thoughtfully categorised by city, country and region and listed with Robert Parker and Wine Spectator scores to help diners choose the right wine for their steak. The wine by the glass selection is thin so order a bottle instead for better value and quality.
Service
Staff is pleasant and friendly though it can be a challenge to get their attention at times, especially for diners tucked away in the corner.
Price
Great value, a filling dinner for two should average less than MOP 1,000 for three courses, including premium meat or seafood and a glass of wine.
