Aurora is located on the tenth floor of the Altira Hotel in Taipa, and guests are escorted into this fine dining Italian restaurant from a private lift that silently ascends opening on to a stylish contemporary décor with stunning views back over the water to Macau. On cooler evenings, alfresco dining is available on the expansive deck, softly and romantically lit with the glow of candles.

Aurora brings a wonderful fusion of Italian passion, Portuguese bravado and Macanese magic. Two of the signature dishes at Aurora are a chitarra with Boston lobster, Alaskan king crab and cherry tomatoes; and a smoked Sicilian red prawn carpaccio. The chitarra is a testament to the chef Michele dell’Aquila’s ability to combine complex tastes and textures with homemade spaghetti that leaves a taste of velvet luxury upon the tongue. The smoked Sicilian red prawn carpaccio sliced transparently with fennel-infused jelly cubes melt in the mouth with a joyous eruption of flavour. Make sure to have that with a glorious full-bodied wine from Douro, as the flavour combination is close to magical. For dessert, a truly imaginative tiramisu of pistachio and lemon confuses the eye but leave taste buds infatuated. All in all, an experience at Aurora will guarantee elegantly presented, wonderfully creative and mouth-wateringly delicious food.

Excellent service with senior waiters who know the menu and are happy to relay specific requests to the kitchen, in order to create customised and individualised dining experiences. Even the most finicky guests will appreciate details such as the fact that dishes and wines are always served from the right, wine glasses are always re-filled and the staff display a courteous and appreciative manner at all times.

A meal for two with wine will cost about MOP1,000. Wonderful food does not come cheaply but Aurora is the best punt you will make in Macau.
