Setting
Rising high above it all on the top floor of the sleek Hotel Icon, Above and Beyond lives up to its name, offering patrons a sophisticated and memorable dining experience in a modern, understated setting where the views and the food are the star attractions. Every table in the house offers gorgeous views of Victoria Harbour. For a memorable group occasion, request the table next to the wine cellar, which offers floor-to-ceiling views of the Harbour on one side and an impressive glass cellar with gorgeous wines from all over the world on the other.

Food
The cuisine at Above and Beyond is a delicious marriage between traditional Chinese dishes and modern techniques and ingredients. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes listed under the Chef’s Recommendations but the signature wok-fried Australian wagyu beef cubes with goose liver and fresh basil is especially memorable, prepared with succulent pieces of tender wagyu beef and melt-in-your-mouth cubes of seared buttery foie gras. Stir-fried smoked pork belly with dried shrimp and garlic chives is a perfect symphony of refreshing chives, slices of rich and earthy pork and morsels of dried shrimp that round out the flavour beautifully. For a vegetable option, the stir-fried celery with gingko nuts and lily bulbs is a cornucopia of fresh, crisp, delicious vegetables served in a fried nest made of batter and includes a variety of mushrooms and sweet sugar snap peas. To finish off the meal, try the steamed coral crab with glutinous rice, a delicious dish brimming with savoury umami flavors. The rice is served by the wait staff separately from the crab, which is studded with bright red crab roe.

Wine
“You have only so many bottle in your life, never drink a bad one” – so goes the motto on the cover of Above and Beyond’s wine list, and they do their part to offer patrons a truly impressive selection of wines from around the world. The sommelier is knowledgeable and can assist with choices to complement the meal.

Service
Service at Above and Beyond is attentive and courteous. Wait staff discretely pay attention to diners’ needs and always perform with a smile; however, a description of the dishes and instructions on how to eat some of the more unique offerings would be helpful.
Price
A meal at Above and Beyond can get pricey depending on the delicacies ordered, but is worth it for a delicious, memorable meal with a great view and ambience. Dinner for two will cost about HK$1,200, excluding wine.

Above & Beyond’s Tea Menu

While the Chinese drink tea with most of their meals, cooking with tea is actually not that common, apart from the odd tea-smoked duck or egg in a Shanghainese restaurant. At Above & Beyond in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Chinese restaurant at Hotel Icon will be serving a tea-inspired menu, with dishes such as:

- braised assorted vegetables with Red Heart Iron Buddha tea sauce

- wok-fried scallops with Dong Ting Bilouchun tea sauce

- wok-fried Australian wagyu beef cubes with Feng Huang Dan Cong tea leaves

If you still prefer drinking tea rather than eating it, there will also be a special tea-pairing menu until the end of May, with pairings such as:

- crispy vegetarian bean curd sheet with barbecued Kagoshima pork, paired with Silver Needle tea

- sautéed king prawn with jasmine Dragon Pearl tea

- shrimp dumpling with inaniwa udon with Red Heart Iron Buddha tea

The tea-pairing dinner is served at dinner and priced at HK$738 per person.

For reservations, please call +852 3400-1000.
