One of our favourite openings of the year, the beautiful modern Thai restaurant Saffron at Banyan Tree Macau will showcase classic Thai cuisine buffet style this holiday season. With a glass of gingerbread martini cocktail to spice up your palate, the Christmas Eve dinner buffet dinner is priced at MOP588 per head and serve an array of classic Thai delicacies. On Christmas Day Saffron will serve a similar brunch buffet with the addition of a traditional roast stuffed turkey and is priced at MOP 488 per person.
In Chinese cuisine, snake meat is believed to enhance circulation and relieve chills. This winter, Cuisine Cuisine at the IFC mall in Central is presenting diners with its traditional braised assorted snake soup, made with five different snakes and other ingredients, such as fish maw, chicken, black fungus and Chinese mushrooms.
Additionally, to keep us all warm, Cuisine Cuisine will also be offering other seasonal casserole dishes such as:
- stir fried glutinous rice with assorted preserved meats - double-boiled conger eel soup - baked jumbo oysters with port - stewed brisket of lamb - steamed rice with lobster and preserved vegetables
Dining on the waterfront watching the terrific Christmas lighting across the harbour is the best way to ring in the season. To celebration the festivities with such a romantic dining experience, the Continental restaurant Watermark at Central's pier seven has prepared a festive menu for diners to enjoy on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
The four-course Christmas Eve's menu priced at HK$888 per person includes:
- a choice of starters: marinated scallops and smoked salmon, foie gras with venison saddle, or buckwheat crepe with spinach and avocado
- crab bisque with crispy tarragon cake
- a choice of either seared John Dory with scampi cannelloni, butterball turkey with crushed chestnut; or aged striploin with merlot braised oxtail
- artisan cheese with quince jelly and walnut toast, or caramel apple Christmas bread pudding
There is also a five course New Year's Eve menu available at HK$1,288.

From December 24 to 27, a four-course Christmas festive set dinner menu featuring classic Italian festive fares will be available at Carpaccio at iSquare in Tsim Sha Tsui. Starting from HK$358 per person, the menu includes:
- diver scallops wrapped with Parma ham and rosemary, baby spinach salad and aged balsamico
- crab and cannellini bean bisque
- home-made fettuccine tossed with smoked salmon, vodka and mascarpone cheese
- red mullet fillet in a crust a crispy potato scales, sautéed spinach and orange saffron sabayon
- US roasted turkey breast with sautéed potatoes with onion and pancetta, braised Garfagnana chestnut and rosemary gravy
- chocolate semifreddo with chestnut spaghetti and coffee-caramel sauce
For New Year's Eve, there will be a four-course set dinner, starting from HK$398, which includes:
- Russian salad and poached Tasmanian salmon
- Neapolitan lobster and spelt soup
- ravioli filled with wagyu beef cheek and porcini mushrooms tossed with black truffle sauce
- sea bass fillet served with country salad with Tuscan white beans, baked red onion, baby spinach and broad beans tossed with warm beetroot vinaigrette
- US beef tenderloin tidbits pan-fried with XO served on a rich gherkin and mushrooms cream sauce
- Carpaccio's New Year's dessert platter
On New Year's Eve, there is a 10% off for early birds, from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Even though Hong Kong does not snow or have reindeers, there is nothing to stop us from partaking in a Scandinavian Christmas, thanks to FINDS at the Luxe Manor in Tsim Sha Tsui. Prepared by chef Jaakko Sorsa, FINDS presents diners with a special seven-course Christmas dinner priced at HK$788 per head.
The menu includes:
- Nordic mulled wine - white tomato foam with lightly pickled cucumber - Christmas tasting platter (salmon pastrami and smoked mousse on black bread, foie gras and duck pate with Waldorf salad, thinly sliced smoked and roast venison fillet with lingonberry Cumberland, mustard-marinated Danish herring on dill-potato) - turnip soup seasoned with nutmeg - wild Finnish lingonberry sorbet - a choice of main from premium Norwegian salmon poached with tarragon or Iberico black pork fillet and juicy leg meat - festive Nordic dessert platter (caramelised almond Tosca tart, Valrhona Guajana chocolate bread pudding, wild blueberry cheesecake, pistachio ice cream)
Wine pairing is also available with an additional of HK$288.
On Christmas day, Grand Hyatt Steakhouse in Wan Chai will offer a special three-course set lunch menu priced at HK$880 per head. Kick off the festive feasts at the famous Steakhouse salad bar with its premium Spanish ham, oak-smoked salmon and truffled paté; or opt for a decadent lobster bisque or half a dozen freshly shucked oysters. For main course choose from the succulent choices of grilled USDA prime beef with various cut options, or turkey roulade with sausage and pear stuffing. The sticky fig, date and gingerbread pudding with rum butterscotch sauce and raisin ice cream gives a warm end note to the meal. Similar menus are also available on the nights of December 24, 25 and 31.
If you are looking for an unconventional Christmas experience, look no further than the tasting menu offered by G.e. in Luxe Manor in Tsim Sha Tsui. Executive chef Bonelli has designed an eight-course Christmas set menu, making use of seasonal ingredients. The menu will not be disclosed until the dishes are served diners can skip peeping at the menu and settle in for an evening of surprises and delights. The set menu will be offered on December 24, December 25 (HK$2,388 per person) and also on New Year's Eve (HK$2,688 per person), served with a glass of champagne.

- terrine of wild Tasmanian salmon and winter black truffle
- butter squash pumpkin cappucino
- large shell pasta with wild-caught sea bass
- mascarpone cheese and zucchini served on a Franciacorta and saffron emulsion sauce
- a choice of mains including: amberjack steak in Mediterranean herbs crust; duo of US beef filet mignon a la plancha and medallion of pig trotter potato Duchess; or9 oz freshly baked half Canadian lobster thermidor (for an extra HK$178)
- strudel with chestnut, chocolate and raisin flavoured with cognac, warm sabayon sauce, and chocolate ice cream
For New Year Eve, there is a semi-buffet priced at HK$888, which will feature a huge selection of Italian antipasti and desserts on the buffet table, as well as pasta and mains from the kitchen. Pasta selections including:
- Paccheri di Gragnano pasta filled with Neapolitan eggplant purée and sea urchin
- wild mushrooms and sheep ricotta cannelloni au gratin servedwith a light 24th month Parmigiano Reggiano cheese fondue sauce
For mains, there is a choice of mille-feuille of Tasmanian Atlantic salmon pave poached with sautéed spinach and hollandaise sauce Fiorentina-style or USDA grain-fed beef tenderloin noisette incrusted with pink peppercorn, porcini flan, potato cream and Chianti jus reduction. Again, for an extra HK$178, guests can also opt for a 7 oz freshly baked Canadian lobster thermidor.
Finally, diners on New Year’s Eve will be eligible for a lucky draw, with the grand prize being a six-night holiday package for two to Italy.
