June 19 may still seem to be a while away, but Father's Day will be here before you know it. Asia Tatler Dining helps you get prepared this year by selecting the five best Father's Day brunch, lunch and dinner. From dim sum and kaiseki to whisky, wine and beer, we promise there will be something perfect for the Dad in your life.
All-you-can-eat dim sum at Sing Yin
For most traditional Chinese fathers, nothing will beat a good old dim sum lunch. And while we certainly agree, sometimes the more traditional dim sum places are just a bit too hectic and noisy for our tastes. This is why we love Sing Yin at the W Hotel. Designed by local interior designer Steve Leung, we love how Sing Yin's décor combines traditional Chinese artefacts and elements with an ultra-modern skyscraper theme.
On Father's Day, chef Bryan Lee will be preparing an all-you-can-eat dim sum feast (HK$175 per person), available from 9.30am to 11am.

Kaikseki at Inakaya
If you've been eager to go to Inakaya, the new robatayaki restaurant at ICC, but been put-off by the sky-high prices, then you must try out their Father's Day kaiseki menu. Priced at HK$1,680 per person (trust us, this is a real steal for Inakaya), the menu includes five types of appetisers such as wild peach soaked in red wine, live shrimp topped with caviar and homemade sesame tofu with sea urchin. The sashimi course includes Matsugawa flat fish and strip jack.
Moving onto the hot dishes, the simmered dish is a pike conger in a hot pot; the grilled dish is a striped fish; and the tempura course has abalone, live shrimp, pumpkin, taro and green peppers. For those who still have room, there is sushi with flat fish, Hokkaido sea urchin and egg. Finally, desserts are assorted Japanese fruits and a tailor-made cocktail by mixologist Sakamoto Yuya. The menu is available for dinner only.

Six-course wine lunch at Amber
If your dad enjoys slow leisurely lunches with fine wines, he won't get a more satisfying Father's Day lunch than at Amber. The six-course menu prepared by the always-reliable chef Richard Ekkebus is perfectly matched by wines chosen by sommelier Hervé Pennequin and priced at HK$998 per person. The meal starts with Champagne and amuse bouches before a choice of three starters: mushrooms marinated Greek-style; foie gras poached in red wine; or oysters served with panna cotta and green asparagus coulis. The middle course's choices are spiny lobster and duck foie gras ravioli; Tasmanian salmon with smoked avocado; or black winter truffle and carnaroli risotto. Make sure to save room for mains: a corn-fed chicken breast with asparagus; line-caught pollack or St. Helen's prime beef with a cocotte of braised short ribs.
Don't think you'll have room for dessert? Thankfully, they are only tasting portions of pineapple marinated with bourbon and sorbet; organic strawberries; and Jivara milk chocolate presented in different textures.

Whisky-themed dinner at The Steak House
We're not saying all Dads love whisky and steak, but if yours does have a fondness for both, he's going to love The InterContinental's Steak House's whisky-themed dinner. The special four-course menu designed by chef Calvin Choi includes starters of whisky scallop carpaccio and a chicken consommé with whisky girolle mushrooms. There is a choice of four mains from the grill: a surf and turf combo of striploin and lobster thermidor with shallot whisky sauce; rack of lamb with lobster thermidor and sage whisky sauce; seabass fillet with whisky lime sabayon or for an additional HK$650, the Australian G9 wagyu striploin with potato dumplings. Dessert is a "Father's Top Hat" of chocolate mousse and brandied cherries prepared by the InterContinental's new executive pastry chef, Cyril Dupuis.

Read more about chef Dupuis here.
The menu is priced at HK$1,288 per person and includes a glass of 2006 Chateau Monbousquet.

Beer Brunch at Liberty Kitchen Exchange
If your dad prefers a pint of hearty ale over whisky or wine, then Liberty Kitchen Exchange's Beer Brunch is ideal. New executive chef Vicky Cheng is kicking off Father's Day with a HK$448 brunch with free-flow Stella Artois, Erdinger and Hoegaarden. The menu includes a starter (choose from warm goat's cheese salad, truffled mushroom soup, fruit parfait or an organic green salad), a 12oz prime rib roast and a dessert of banana bread pudding, white chocolate mousse or coconut panna cotta. Make sure to get there early, as the free-flow pints are cut off at 5.30pm.
