1957 & Co. Offers Christmas Three Ways

Celebrate the festive season with delicious festive menus from Sushi Ta-ke, Bella Vita and Mango Tree

For those of us working in Causeway Bay, this year has been a culinary blessing as a new dining destination has opened up in the form of the Cubus building on Hoi Ping Road. Housing such top restaurants as Sushi Ta-ke and Bella Vita, Cubus has become one of our favourite go-to spots for lunch, dinner and drinks.

Sushi Ta-ke features festive elegance in Japanese style

For the holiday season, the restaurants within Cubus are hosting special Christmas and New Year’s menus. Sushi Ta-ke, the excellent Japanese restaurant specialising in sushi and sashimi, will be celebrating with the freshest premium ingredients from Japan, including an appetiser of anglefish liver and abalone steamed with soy sauce; grilled Hokkaido taraba crab (pictured below); and a traditional bowl of buckwheat noodles, in honour of the Japanese (and Chinese) belief that eating a bowl of uncut noodles symbolises long life. Bella Vita brings a festive menu true to Italian traditions

At Bella Vita, the Italian restaurant downstairs, the Tuscan chef Francesco will be flying in premium ingredients from Italy and cooking them according to his family’s recipes. The festive menu includes homemade tagliatelle with venison ragout; risotto with Sicilian red shrimp, pistachios and Tuscan saffron; slow-cooked pork belly with mussels; and roasted lamb rack with foie gras and spinach tart. Internationally renowned Thai restaurant Mango Tree arrives in Hong Kong

As if these two choices aren’t enticing enough, the dining group 1957 & Co., which operates both Sushi Ta-ke and Bella Vita, is also opening a third restaurant in the building, Mango Tree. A Thai restaurant that first opened in Bangkok in 1994, this is the first outlet in Hong Kong.

Signature items include crabs baked with Thai herbs and glass noodles; barbecued river prawns; and roasted duck curry served in a pineapple. The restaurant is currently in soft opening, with the grand opening scheduled for November 29, just in time for the holiday season.
