A new Argentine steak house opens on Wyndham Street By Lynn Fung |

The kitchen of this new addition is manned by chef de cuisine Ignacio Elizondo, a chef from Buenos Aires who has trained under the award-winning chef Daniel Boulud. On the menu, naturally, is the famous Argentine prime beef grilled over a custom-built, traditional open-fired oven which is served with a variety of salsas such as criolla, lucia and chimichurri. Other quintessential South American dishes such as ceviche and empanadas will also be available. The wine list will feature mainly Argentine wines, with Spanish and Italian wineries also present. 1/F, Carfield Building, 77 Wyndham Street, Central. Tel: +852 2525-5808.

Lime Opens at Soho 38
A Thai cocktail lounge and kitchen expands into Central |
Thai food-lovers will be glad to hear that Lime, a small Thai restaurant run by husband and wife-duo Andrew Curtis and Kittiya Fuangfoo-Curtis in Kennedy Town, is opening a new branch in Soho on November 15. Located on the ground floor of the apartment building Soho 38, the new cocktail lounge and kitchen will feature a show kitchen with seating similar to a sushi bar. The kitchen will serve Thai classics as well as fusion dishes, but it is the massive cocktail list that really differentiates it from the branch in Kennedy Town. The bar serves cocktails mixed with Thai spirits such as Mekhong and Sangsom, as well as a selection of premium wines. Smokers will also love the roof garden, open until 10.30pm daily. 38 Shelley Street, Central, Hong Kong. Tel: +852 2179-5779.

Brat Opens
A gourmet hot dog stand opens in Soho By Lynn Fung |
A few years ago, the buzz was all about gourmet top-of-the-line burgers, filled with ingredients such as foie gras and truffle mayo, probably best exemplified by Que Vinh Dang's Duke’s Burgers. And now, it seems like it’s the turn of its equally humble fast food counterpart, the hot dog. Brat, the new gourmet hotdog eatery on Elgin Street offers bespoke gourmet sausages with all natural US meat and uses no added fats, byproducts, artificial flavouring or colouring.
Where is the fun in that, you might ask. To make up for the usual ingredients that make a sausage so suspiciously tasty, Brat will entice diners with more wholesome add-on variations such as the portobello and porcini sausage (portobello, porcini, caramelized onions and sage); and the sun-dried tomato, pesto and green habanero sausage (green chilis, habanero, jalapeño, fresh cilantro and tequila). The sausages come encased in either the signature bun or a dark rye bun.
Non-hot dog lovers can still get a taste of the gourmet sausages by trying Brat’s take on the English classic, bangers and mash, or the sausage sampler where you can pick four of the sausages from the menu, and served with sauerkraut and caramelized onions.
7 Elgin Street, Central. Tel: +852 2549-3088.
