A couple of years ago, Armani bar at Chater House was a hip and happening destination: sadly, it has since fallen so far from the radar that we had to double-check to see whether it was still open before writing this story. It looks like local restaurant group, Aqua, however, has taken it upon themselves to turn the venue around by turning the space into a massive restaurant and bar before the end of the year. We hear from a very reliable source that the new Aqua-Armani joint venture will take over one more floor of the building, so that the restaurant and bar will take up a floor each. This new restaurant will also be the fourth member of the Armani restaurants in addition to those in Dubai, New York and Tokyo.

If you are looking for lunch on the go with something simple and nicely done, the newly launched takeaway counter, Feastaway is your saviour, especially if you work around Quarry Bay or Tai Koo. Served as an extension of the vibrant Feast cafe at East Hotel, this takeaway counter offers a large selection of salads, sandwiches as well as a daily curry and pasta choices. Sandwich selections include the classics such as BLTs and ham and cheese, while the more adventurous can opt for the harissa lamb, watercress and lime aioli ciabatta.

Breakfast is also available with fresh pastries, seasonal fresh fruit salads, yogurt and muesli and fresh juices.

Doppio Zero, a new Italian trattoria that serves "casual lunch and artisanal dinners" has recently opened in The Pemberton building in Sheung Wan.

The menu is a mix of the classic and the modern: for example, the pastas include a classic tagliatelle Bolognese and spaghetti amatriciana. On the other hand, there are also some modern and Asian influences, for example there is a spaghetti neri with baby cuttlefish, Thai chillies, scallion and tomato and even a bucatini with Chinese sausage and baby octopus.

The pasta at Doppio Zero is handmade with "00" flour and the kitchen is run by executive chef Jake Addeo whose resume include Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy (Due Spada) and New York Times starred-restaurants in New York.

Doppio Zero is open for lunch and dinner daily.

Le Fauchon is a familiar name to most lovers of French cuisine in Hong Kong, having first opened in Soho in the 1990's. Since then, Le Fauchon has moved location a couple of times and we have learned that its branch in J Senses, Wan Chai, has just closed down. But loyal fans need not be disappointed, as the doors to its Soho branch, Brasserie Le Fauchon on Elgin Street are still open for those craving their delicacies from the south of France.

Meanwhile, taking Le Fauchon's place will be Koh Thai, who will be extending their business from Wyndham Street to Wan Chai. Serving authentic Thai cuisine, the restaurant in Central is a success with its modern setting and quality food. Furthermore, they had invited chef Tiger, who has worked at the five-star hotel Dusit Thani Bangkok, to prepare the best selections from Thailand.
