After El Bulli closed its doors at the end of July, many gourmands wondered what the next step for the Spanish mega-chef will be. Well, now we know that travelling is certainly on the menu as Ferran Adrià and his protégé, chef Paco Roncero, will be visiting Hong Kong from August 26 to 28.

The duo will be hosting a conference at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong which will include Q&A sessions with Adrià himself, cooking demonstrations by chef Roncero and most importantly, three 11-course wine pairing dinners prepared by chef Roncero on the evenings of August 26, 27 and 28 at the Ritz-Carlton's Italian restaurant, Tosca.

The 11-course dinner is priced at HK$4,800 per person but there are also special package offers for attending the conference ranging from HK$2,200 (for a whole-day conference on August 26); conference plus dinner packages (HK$7,000 per person); or conference, dinner plus one-night stay at the Ritz-Carlton for HK$16,750 (for two).

There has been much excitement concerning the opening of Yardbird, a new yakitori restaurant that opened recently on Bridges Street in Sheung Wan. The owner is executive chef Matt Abergel, who worked at the famous Masa in New York City before becoming the executive chef at Zuma here in Hong Kong. The restaurant focuses on chicken and all its parts (gizzard, innards, hearts and tails) and sources fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.

For those with an aversion to chicken, there is a limited menu offering pork belly, short rib, as well as some vegetable starters such as the Yardbird Caesar, sweet corn tempura and a Korean fried cauliflower.

Yardbird is open for dinners only from 6pm until late and closed on Sundays.

The Press Room, the modern European eatery in Sheung Wan, is one of our favourite restaurants along Hollywood Road so we are curious to know what changes new head chef Jorge da Silva will bring to this popular brunch spot.

The Portuguese-born chef da Silva has spent time in some of London's most acclaimed restaurants before joining the team at The Press Room and he will be introducing 17 new dishes to the menu. Some of his more exciting additions include a salad gourmande with shaved foie gras and a foie gras ballotine to the starters; while new mains include a chargrilled baby chicken with garlic butter and a roast black cod with cassoulet au white bean, tomatoes and chorizo.

A few years ago, Moët Hennessy Diageo launched The Singleton of Glen Ord, a malt whisky, in Taiwan where it rapidly became one of the best selling malt whisky on the island. Now whisky-lovers will be able to taste The Singleton here in Hong Kong (and Macau) as the brand prepares to launch the single malt here. Moët Hennessy Diageo has found from their research that the Asian market has a strong preference for whiskies that are "balanced" and "smooth": as such, The Singleton is matured in an equal combination of sherry and bourbon cask, which gives the whisky both an ultra-smooth as well as unique taste.
