Taking up three floors of a former pawnshop and now heritage building on Johnston Road, The Pawn is the place to be seen in Wan Chai. The decor reflects the city’s colonial history with eclectic old-fashioned objects such as typewriters, cameras and lamps. The main bar area is on the first floor and is named The Living Room, with a relaxed ambience to match. The Pawn has an extensive whisky selection and has also introduced a list of cocktails that incorporate fresh seasonal ingredients. The food menu offers a range of British classics such as ploughman’s platter, Scotch eggs, deep-fried pig’s ears and devils on horseback. Relax on the balcony with a drink, a plate of fish and chips and watch the world go by: it doesn’t get much better than this.
