The world’s first Macallan bar is an impressive sight: a large room decked out to resemble a gentlemen’s club with comfortable leather chairs, stuffed animal heads and fur throws. The only thing to detract from the classic, luxurious ambience is the incongruous choice of music: anything from the Grease soundtrack to the early 90s band 20 Fingers. Whisky-lovers may not notice, however, blown away as they will be by the choice of over 350 types of whiskies, including bottles that date back to 1937. Beginners might like to try the various whisky flights, which have detailed descriptions to lead drinkers through a personal tour of the different regions.
